Medicare.com and DestinationRx Form Partnership to Help Seniors
Compare and Enroll in 2009 Part D Drug Plans
New partnership provides guidance to senior citizens in
choosing Medicare Part D health plans
NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Business Wire EON/PRWEB ) November 5, 2008 --
Medicare.com, the premier destination for information related to
Medicare, today announced a new partnership with DestinationRX.
Medicare.com, owned by MedX Publishing, Inc., and DestinationRX will
provide the Medicare consumers easy access to a free web-based tool for
comparing and enrolling in Part D drug plans. The comparison tool will
help seniors or their caregivers make decisions about Medicare coverage
during Open Enrollment from November 15th
to December 31st, 2008.
Powered by DestinationRx, the user-friendly Plan Selectors on
Medicare.com will ask for your zip code and what drugs you use. Once you
enter the information, you will get a side-by-side comparison of local
health plans. For each plan, the finder will list total annual cost,
drugs covered, and details about "gap" coverage. It is an easy way for
seniors to compare the cost and coverage of the plans.
"Seniors should take Open Enrollment seriously," said Bill
Kimberlin, CEO of Medx Publishing, Inc. "Don't assume your current plan
remains the best for you, as costs will go up in 2009. Plans will be
increasing premiums out-of-pocket costs and making changes in the
services and drugs they will cover. Sorting through the costs and
coverage of all the plans out there can be overwhelming. The goal of the
partnership between Medicare.com and DestinationRX is to provide seniors
the best and easiest tools available to compare plan costs, covered
services and drugs.”
A recent analysis of new government data for Medicare Prescription
Drug Plans by Avalere Health, a Washington, D.C. consulting company
indicates that premiums are going up. Medicare Drug Coverage will rise
24% with the top 10 plans increasing as much as 30% in 2009. "The good
news is that seniors have many plans from which to choose," said Michael
Cho, CEO of DestinationRX. "Taking the time to use the tools on
Medicare.com will save them time and money."
Once users have chosen a plan, they will also be able to enroll
directly on Medicare.com. There will be no more making appointments with
sales agents or putting up with follow-up calls for plans which seniors
have decided not to use. Until Open Enrollment begins, sign up on
Medicare.com to receive a reminder email of when enrollment starts. Do
not wait until the last minute to make decisions. Starting early in the
enrollment period gives time to carefully make comparisons and make
changes before the choice takes effect on January 1, 2009.
Mr. Cho went on to say that he is looking forward to partnering
with Medicare.com. "Medicare.com is a perfect match for DestinationRx’s
easy-to-use enrollment tools”.
