Making the Ad Biz Laugh Brings Viral Success for World Wide Wadio 'Parable' Video

At 45,000 views and climbing, "Advertising Parable for the Holidays" demonstrates appeal of comedy as viral force, though World Wide Wadio President Paul Fey is 'shocked' by the video's surging popularity beyond its original target.

Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) January 15, 2008 -- It's an unexpected viral video hit with a lingering 'Ho, ho, ho!'

A funny 'video holiday card' distributed by World Wide Wadio, a creative and radio production company in Hollywood, California, has taken on a post-holiday life of its own.

Intended for an initial audience of about 2,000 clients in the advertising and promotion business, the Wadio holiday video has garnered more than 45,000 views as of this writing - almost 35,000 of them on YouTube alone. More than 1,000 new viewers a day are still clicking.

Titled 'An Advertising Parable for the Holidays,' the 2-minute video features an original recording of a funny rewrite of the holiday chestnut, 'Do You Hear What I Hear?' and uses cleverly edited, black-and-white footage from the classic 'It's a Wonderful Life' to poke gentle fun at agency-and-client relationships.

The positive reviews -- and laughs -- started immediately. A typical comment posted on the YouTube site is from username AdGirl73: "This is by far the funniest thing I have ever or may ever see. I can't stop replaying it over and over again. Maybe I'm biased since I work for an agency, but this is brilliant!"

'Parable' was conceived, written and produced by Paul Fey, president of World Wide Wadio, with production assistance from creative collaborators Steve Jacobson, Stewart Sloke and Laurent Jouvin.

A group of professional Hollywood singers perform Fey's knowing and funny lyrics -- the entertainment value of which Fey might have originally underestimated.

"We were of course happy just making our clients smile," said Fey, who expresses much admiration for the video's original source material. "We were shocked to see the video take off and shoot through the web, just like those viral videos everybody talks about but can never seem to generate."

Perhaps prophetic in all this: Wadio just released its new website, touting its expertise in radio advertising and - what else? - web content.
