TIZANE® Showcases New "Botanicals" Beverage Options at Green Festival D.C.; Company Expands in Down Economy
Tizane also highlighted at D.C. Central Kitchen's "Capital Food Fight" Nov. 11
Washington, D.C. (Vocus/PRWEB ) November 11, 2008 -- In spite of the recent economic downturn, Washington, D.C.-based Tizane Beverages, the nation's first line of premium organic botanical drinks, is expanding into Massachusetts and Pennsylvania next week, and will be available throughout New England this January. The company, which has sales throughout the metropolitan area, is exhibiting at Green Festival at the Washington D.C. Convention Center Nov. 8-9 (booth 761).
Tizane's botanical beverages come in Hibiscus, Lemongrass and Jasmine flavors.
"When times get tough, people appreciate the smaller pleasures even more," said Tizane co-founder Charlie Pucciariello. "Tizane's premium quality and beneficial properties keep purists coming back for more. "
The Tizane beverages will also be highlighted at the D.C. Central Kitchen's "www.capitalfoodfight.org [Capital Food Fight" fundraising event November 11 and are already on the organization's new high-quality "Capital Cart" vending cart at 8th and H Street, NW in Washington, D.C., just launched in October, 2008.
Less than a year old, Tizane is already winning awards. Natural Products Expo East in Boston Oct. 15-18 selected Tizane as a "green leader" for its sustainable exhibit while BevNET.com named Tizane one of the "Best of Show" of all the offerings at the event. In Chicago this coming weekend, Tizane will be featured as the recipient of the Glass Packaging Institute's highest honor, the "2008 Clear Choice Award." Its glass bottle was selected for innovation in the organics category. Tizane uses recyclable glass bottles to preserve the drinks' crisp, fresh taste.
Tizane: A New Destination in Taste
"Our infusions are like a spa in a bottle - they are hydrating, balancing and restorative. Unlike teas, which have caffeine that affects the nervous system, Tizane is caffeine-free," said Nona Pucciariello, co-founder. "The flavor, aroma, color and nutrients are from the botanicals in their true, natural state, not manufactured in a food lab. It's a more holistic approach to beverages."
Available in three flavors, Hibiscus, Lemongrass and Jasmine, Tizane beverages are handcrafted in small batches using techniques found in centuries-old cultural traditions. Nothing artificial or unnatural is used - no additives, powders, extracts, supplements, concentrates, colorings, preservatives, caffeine or added sugar. Tizane is certified 100% organic by NOFA-Vermont.
The Pucciariello duo became interested in botanicals during years of world travel. Nona said, "Around the world, plants are used daily for their many therapeutic benefits. We wanted to bring that sensibility to great tasting beverages in the US."
| | - Jasmine - A cool, relaxing taste that is subtle and uplifting, Jasmine offers fresh, light
jasmine floral notes and a very slight citrus undertone. (70 calories)
- Hibiscus - A deep red infusion, this features citrus berry-like overtones, enhanced by the
mildly sweet pear notes of rose hips. (80 calories)
- Lemongrass - Full of refreshingly delicate, grassy lemon notes with earthy hints of mint. (60 calories)
| Only 60-80 calories per 12-ounce bottle, Tizane's light sweetness comes from the blue agave plant.
