New AChiPPP Website Uses Postcode Search to Make it Easier for Parents to Find a Private Child Psychologist

AChiPPP - the Association of Child Psychologists in Private Practice - chose BRAINBOX Web Design to redevelop their website. The new website features a new Postcode Search - making it much easier for parents to find the right Child Psychologist for their child.

London, UK (PRWEB) November 16, 2007 -- When child psychologist association AChiPPP outgrew its old website, it turned to web design company BRAINBOX for the solution.

AChiPPP was established in 2006 with the intention of drawing together committed practitioners who have a vision for the future of Child Psychology. Its founders believe that that Child Psychologists working in private practice need a forum for discussion - a forum that will allow the association to speak with a collective voice to help shape the future of the profession.

By early 2007 it became clear that the association's first website was not going to be adequate for its medium term aims.

As BRAINBOX Managing Director Gary Straughan said, "In search engine terms, the original website was invisible. Unless you knew to search for 'AChiPPP', it's unlikely that you would have found it."

BRAINBOX had recently completed a website for a similar organization (Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice - ASLTIP). AChiPPP was impressed by (i) its ability to attract members of the public by virtue of its search engine friendliness, and (ii) the ease by which members of the public could find members via the Postcode Search.

"We knew that there were three things we had to get right with this website", Gary added: "1) bring more visitors to the website from search engines; 2) create a good first impression - so that people don't turn around and leave; 3) make it really easy for parents to find the right psychologist. That's where the Postcode Search comes in."

Visitors to the new AChiPPP website need simply to enter their own postcode to receive a list of AChiPPP members ordered by proximity - closest first. The optional advanced search may be used to search for child psychologists with a particular specialty: autism, attention deficit, learning difficulties, etc. Additionally, parents can "zoom in" and view full details of each psychologist.

The new AChiPPP website went live at the end of October (2007). It took just two weeks for search engine traffic to the website to double. And more than half of all visitors to the website use the new Postcode Search facility.
