Drexel University Online to host awards ceremony in honor of National Distance Learning Week, November 9-13, 2009
Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) November 7, 2009 -- The United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) will celebrate National Distance Learning Week (NDLW) during the week of November 9-13, 2009. NDLW is an annual initiative that generates greater awareness and appreciation for distance learning within the areas of pre-k-12 education, higher and continuing education, home schooling, as well as business, corporate, military, government, and telehealth markets.
National Distance Learning Week
Drexel University Online will hold an awards ceremony on Monday, November 9, at 9:30 a.m. in the Bossone Enterprise Research Center, Mitchell Auditorium (Market Street, between 31st and 32nd Streets), to recognize the outstanding online Drexel faculty. This annual event will recognize those individuals who have made a significant contribution to the field of distance/online learning. "It is with great enthusiasm and excitement that Drexel University Online honors our online faculty" said Dr. Kenneth Hartman, academic director, Drexel University Online. "It is their talent and commitment to teaching online that make Drexel University a recognized leader in the field of distance learning."

Today, over 3.5 million students are taking online courses and/or earning online college degrees. At the secondary school level, over 700,000 high school students are taking one or more courses online and nearly 40 states have established state-lead virtual schools. During the week of November 9-13, schools, colleges, businesses and government agencies across the country will be showcasing their online programs.
