Homeland Healthcare and Hammerman & Gainer Announce Partnership for Real-Time Eligibility and Claim Adjudication for Limited Med Plans

Limited Benefit Plan Solution Powered by TransEngen Technology to Help Healthcare Providers Identify Carrier and Consumer Liability at Point-of-Sale. Bottom line we must give the consumer a better experience at point of care

Richardson, Texas, Lutcher, La. and Norwalk, Conn. (PRWEB) May 15, 2009 -- Homeland HealthCare, the healthcare industry's leading provider of affordable limited benefit health insurance coverage, and Hammerman & Gainer, a third party administrator that is innovating with solutions that enable customers to reduce costs and streamline operations, today announced a partnership that will provide healthcare providers point-of-sale visibility into insurance reimbursement and patient self-pay responsibilities.

The new program, sold under the name Homeland SureCare™, provides a web-based portal to healthcare providers that allows for real-time eligibility and claims adjudication. Powered by technology from TransEngen, Inc., an innovator in transaction processing technology for healthcare, the easy-to-use, web-based system enables providers to verify patient eligibility and payment terms at the point of service while the patient receives care without paperwork hassles or delays. Claims are re-priced to contracted network rates in real-time, and providers can sign up for electronic funds transfer, which means the provider can receive payment within 24 to 48 hours. "The system is convenient and secure, and plan members see the immediate benefit of the discount and coverage from the Homeland SureCare benefit program," said Stephen Jones, CEO of Homeland HealthCare.

Seeking an innovative solution, Hammerman & Gainer teamed up with TransEngen to deliver this complete end-to-end payments solution to the Limited Benefit Plan market. "Concerns over patient responsibility and associated provider bad debt were calling for a new approach," said Jimmy Hersman, Vice President of Consumer Healthcare Sales for Hammerman & Gainer. "There was so much confusion over plan benefits and how much the patient owed at the point of care, creating an inefficient and costly payment system and dissatisfaction with these plans. Our new claims adjudication platform eliminates this confusion, increasing satisfaction and creating a more streamlined, cost-effective approach to reimbursing providers."

"We recognized that a new product strategy was needed," adds Robert Byrnes, President of Homeland HealthCare. "The Homeland SureCare program will dramatically improve the experience with our product for both providers and our members. Through the portal, providers now have immediate access to reimbursement levels for the services they provide to SureCare plan members, creating price transparency for our members and facilitating faster payment back to providers - a win-win for everyone."

"As the administrative complexity of plan designs continues to overwhelm the payments system, payers, providers and consumers are seeking greater overall efficiency," said Greg Morris, President and CEO of TransEngen. "We're pleased that recognized industry leaders Homeland Healthcare and Hammerman & Gainer turned to TransEngen to provide the technology that creates a more efficient, less costly method of reimbursement."
