The Heritage of Green Hills, an innovative, full-service retirement community, celebrated its grand opening with The Heritage of Hollywood, a cinema-themed gala featuring the sights and sounds of 1940's and 50's Tinseltown, as well as remarks and recognition by local government and community leaders.
Berks County, Pa. (PRWEB) May 11, 2009 -- On Thursday, April 23, The Heritage of Green Hills, a full-service retirement community, celebrated its grand opening with The Heritage of Hollywood, a cinema-themed gala featuring the sights and sounds of 1940's and 50's Hollywood. More than 500 people came from Berks and several surrounding counties - and from as far away as Maryland, New York and New Jersey - to attend the event.
When completed, The Heritage of Green Hills will be the largest retirement community in Berks County. At its capacity, The Heritage of Green Hills will be home to more than 800 residents, and will have created more than 150 new jobs.
Guests enjoyed food specially prepared by Executive Chef Dan Kelly, staff-guided tours of the community, and live music from the Craig Wes Fisher Orchestra.
The gala was kicked off by an official ribbon cutting ceremony attended by Cumru Township and Berks County elected officials, Heritage residents and corporate leadership. State Representative Sam Rohrer and State Senator Michael O'Pake offered remarks. Betty Thompson, The Heritage of Green Hills' first resident, performed the actual ribbon cutting.
"The day truly captured the level of excitement that has surrounded our opening," said Chris Romick, Executive Director of The Heritage of Green Hills. "We were gratified that so many people wanted to experience the community firsthand and see what makes it unique to our region."
The new community incorporates modern design, amenities, programs and services that focus on an active generation of retirees. For example, The Heritage of Green Hills introduced Well by Design, an innovative, proprietary program that enables each resident to create an individual "path to wellness."
