World's Only Rhubarb Race Car Derby Attempts to Break Record at Rhubarb Festival and Baking Contest on May 15th/16th
Contestants needed for Kitchen Kettle Village's 26th Annual Rhubarb Festival and Baking Contest taking place on May 15th and 16th, as participants compete for a cash prize to break the fastest recorded speed of 4.28 seconds in the World's Only Rhubarb Race Car Derby. The Festival also includes a Rhubarb Dessert Baking Contest, Free Concerts, Entertainment and free samples of Rhubarb Inspired Food Creation.
Intercourse, PA (PRWEB) April 21, 2009 -- Kitchen Kettle Village is revvin' its rhubarb engines to try to break the fastest recorded speed of 4.28 seconds in the Rhubarb Race Car Derby at the 26th Annual Rhubarb Festival and Baking Contest on May 16th from 11:00am to 3:00pm. The public is invited to participate as the contestants will race their "cars" down an electronically-timed course and the winner will receive a cash prize. The modest entrance fee gives participants their self-chosen stalk of rhubarb and a pre-made wheel set while benefiting the Lancaster Farmland Trust, a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of local farmland. Willow Valley Resort is the sponsor of this year's two-day Festival, which opens at 11:00am on May 15th with Three Dads & a Lad Barbershop Quartet.
Other events include a "Bake a Pie-Save a Farm" Best Rhubarb Dessert Baking Contest with celebrity judges, food and gardening demonstrations, a Rollicking Rhubarb Stroll, the Rhubarb Whoopie Pie Filling Contest as well as tasty food sampling, crowning of the Rhubarb King and Queen, a variety of music and lots of family fun with a special visit from "Rhu-Barb" and "Yummie". Guests of all ages are invited to participate in the Derby as well as all other activities and contests.
This event will precede many other "Free at KKV" Events and Festivals slated for the year such as The Berry Jam Festival on June 19th and 20th, Yummie's Birthday Party on August 1st, and the 35th Annual Seven Sweets & Sours Tailgate Festival on September 18th and 19th
