Top Ice Cream Brand Hopes to Pass Savings on to Consumers

Turkey Hill Dairy of Lancaster County, PA. Offers Price Discount to Retail Outlets

Lancaster County, PA (PRWEB) April 3, 2009 -- This is no April Fool's joke. For the second time in 6 months, Turkey Hill Dairy (www.turkeyhill.com) of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, the #4 ice cream brand in the nation, has offered a price discount to retail partners on every 1.5 quart container of Turkey Hill ice cream and other frozen desserts with the hope of passing lower prices on to ice cream lovers throughout the Dairy's marketing area.

On both October 1, 2008, and April 1, 2009, the Dairy began to give retailers a five-cent wholesale discount on each 1.5 quart ice cream container. The Dairy hopes that the everyday 10-cent reduction will lead to lower prices in grocery store check-out lanes.

Last fall, after several years of skyrocketing commodity prices, the Dairy began to see declining prices on its ice cream ingredients, primarily milk and cream. Given the higher food costs everyone has experienced over the past few years, and today's tough economic times, the Dairy looked for the best way to pass along this cost savings to its customers. A discount to retailers was the best, fairest, and fastest way to get lower prices to the consumer.

"My family began making ice cream to share with their neighbors," said Quintin Frey, president of Turkey Hill Dairy. "The best way to honor that tradition is to pass along our cost savings the most efficient way we can to our neighbors today. The difference now is that our neighbors are all across 22 states, not just here in Lancaster County."

Today, Turkey Hill's products are shared all along the East Coast, from Maine to Florida, and as far west as the Rocky Mountain states. Product lines include a variety of ice creams, frozen yogurts, ice cream sandwiches, and cold-fashioned iced teas and drinks, in many flavors. Besides being the #4 ice cream brand, the Dairy produces the #1 line of refrigerated iced teas in the nation.

Located in the rich farming country of Lancaster County, Pa., Turkey Hill Dairy produces the fourth largest-selling premium ice cream brand and the number-one refrigerated iced tea brand in the nation. The third-generation, family-run dairy sells its products in a market that extends along the East Coast and west to the Rockies. For more information about Turkey Hill, visit turkeyhill.com.
