Slow Economy Creates Market for Free Grand Canyon Tours to Havasu Falls

Grand Canyon tour company is giving away free all-inclusive trips to Havasu Falls in the western Grand Canyon

Flagstaff, AZ (PRWEB) April 1, 2009 -- The travel industry has been one of the hardest hit by the economy, and they're offering unheard of deals and discounts in order to entice leery travelers, including one Grand Canyon Tour Company that is giving away free trips. Hydros Adventures has announced that it is giving away all-inclusive hiking and camping trips to world-renowned Havasu Falls, a series of beautiful turquoise waterfalls hidden deep within the Grand Canyon on the ancestral home of Havasupai Indian Tribe.

2009 promises great travel deals as operators become more willing to do whatever it takes to fill empty seats. Genevive Shaw Brown, Senior Editor at Travelocity, predicts that 2009 will be the "year of the travel deals" as a result of the economic climate. This downturn means that vacationers are poised to reap the benefits of the recession.

Despite a lagging economy, travelers are still taking their hard earned vacations - they're just cutting costs wherever they can. TripAdvisor's 2009 Annual Travel Trends Survey projects more domestic travel, with Americans hitting up their National Parks, and seeking out more adventure - hiking, backpacking, kayaking and camping trips. A trend towards greener vacations coupled with a decrease in discretionary income has people seeking outdoor vacations that are exciting, environmentally friendly, and easy on the wallet.

Some tour operators are figuring out ways to maximize the outdoor adventure trend for 2009, even amidst a slow economy. Hydros Adventures, which offers Southwest and Grand Canyon Tours, including guided hiking, backpacking, kayaking and rafting, is giving away free trips to Havasu Falls in the western Grand Canyon. These waterfalls are a world-renowned destination famous for the unique color of their azure blue waters. The trip includes transportation from Flagstaff, gear, meals, and a professional backcountry guide. Owner Rob Sewell says, "The economy has a lot of people hesitant to set out on vacations this year. By filling extra seats, I wanted to get the word out about this amazing destination right here in our own backyard, rather than having people lose out on this once in a lifetime experience."

Those interested in entering the drawing for a free trip should go to HydrosAdventures.com and click on Havasu Falls. The winner will be announced May 1st, when Havasu Falls opens for the 2009 season.
