Warm-Hearted Gesture, Just In Time For Valentine's Day

Snack Company Donates 15,000 bags of Sweet Chili riceworks® to Daily Bread Food Bank in Time for Valentines Day.

Toronto, ON (PRWEB) February 11, 2009 -- Just in time for Valentine's Day, Snack Alliance shows its heart and donates an entire truckload of 15,000 bags of its popular Sweet Chili riceworks® Gourmet Brown Rice Crisps to the Daily Bread Food Bank in a gesture that is sure to fill the bellies and warm the hearts of those receiving their food hampers in the GTA over the next week.

"We're absolutely thrilled with the riceworks® donation," said Linda Ciotola, Manager of Development at the Daily Bread Food Bank, a non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to fighting hunger. Last year, over 950,000 people in the GTA relied on food banks and 34 percent of those people were children. Daily Bread serves the majority of our clients through 190 food relief prgrams including neighbourhood food banks and meal programs. "I hope other food industry companies follow their lead and have the heart to do what Snack Alliance did in donating the truckload. I know our Food Bank recipients will love this donation."

The riceworks® brand of gourmet brown rice crisps was recently nominated as one of Canada's best new products awards by Canadian Living. "We're pleased to help out in the food relief program," said Kerry Manning Cooper, Director of Marketing for riceworks®. "We appreciate the support consumers have given to the riceworks® line of products, and we hope the treat brings a smile to those who receive it."

By supporting Daily Bread--through a food donation during a food drive, a financial gift, volunteering on the annual survey or a special event, or by contacting their local politicians about hunger in their communities-- people are supporting the goal of a society in which everyone has enough food to eat.
