Clickthrough Marketing Goes Nuts

Clickthrough Marketing announce the success of one of its Pay Per Click team in the Walker's crisps, Do Us a Flavour competition. Martyn Wright, who suggested Cajun Squirrel as a new flavour for crisps, works in the PPC management department.

(PRWEB) January 21, 2009 -- Clickthrough Marketing, a search engine optimisation company with offices in London and Lichfield, is delighted to announce the success of one of its Pay Per Click experts, Martyn Wright, who has reached the final 6 contenders for the Walker's Crisps Do us a Flavour competition.

The competition, which has been running since July 2008 until October 2008, allowed everyone the chance to name a new Walker's Crisp by submitting a flavour and an image. Martyn submitted Cajun Squirrel flavour. Walker's were expecting around 250,000 entries, but have received 1.2 million in total.

The panel of judges with the unenviable task of narrowing down the huge list of entries and choosing the six finalists included members of the Walkers flavour development team, a member of the public, and chef, Heston Blumenthal.

Martyn, who is the only man in the final, came up with his idea when he saw squirrel on a menu in a restaurant. "I've always liked the taste of Cajun food, and fancied something a little different, not just chicken. They don't actually contain squirrel, so they are veggie friendly, and it would probably put people off if they really did contain squirrel."

All the finalists will get a trip to the factory next month to see their crisps being manufactured, and Martyn will finally get to taste his Cajun Squirrel crisps, whose ingredients include milk, lactose, salt, sugar, dried onion, dried garlic, dried lemon juice, cardamon, ginger, coriander, chilli, cumin, oregano, thyme, allspice, parsley, paprika extract and flavouring.

Martyn works at Clickthrough Marketing's offices in Lichfield as a manager in the Pay Per Click team, who offer managed website promotion and search engine optimisation services for a wide variety of corporate clients. He has worked there for the past ten months, after being involved in PPC for the last three years or so.

He plans to put a deposit down on a house with his £10,000 prize, but if Cajun Squirrel wins the public vote, which is happening right now on the Facebook Do us a Flavour page, Walkers.co.uk and via SMS, he will win £50,000 plus 1% of sales of the flavor (which for BBQ Rib would be the equivalent of £57,000/year). When asked how he felt, Martyn replied, "It's very exciting, very surreal."
