Retirees and Investors Look to Hurricane-Free Haven in Panama After Another Violent Storm Season

As the United States weathers yet another destructive hurricane season, more and more sun-seeking retirees and investors are looking to hurricane-free countries like Panama.

Panama City, Panama (PRWEB) October 23, 2008 -- As the United States weathers yet another destructive hurricane season, more and more sun-seeking retirees and investors are looking to hurricane-free countries like Panama.

Less than three hours by air from where hurricane Ike slammed into the Texas Gulf Coast, Panama sits below the hurricane belt. The southern most nation in Central America, it is the only country in the region that never has a hurricane watch.

Ocean currents, upper level wind flows and the rotation of the earth push hurricanes on an upward curving path as they move from east to west, protecting Panama which lies more than 100 miles south of the traditional storm path.

Blayne Ladner, a property investor in Louisiana, Florida and Mississippi, moved to Panama after suffering the devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina.

"I began researching places throughout the world and my biggest criteria was that there be no hurricanes," he said. "I found Panama and saw that there were a lot of other reasons to invest."

Other incentives for moving to Panama include a 20-year property tax exemption, a low crime rate, a U.S. dollar based economy, modern infrastructure, excellent and affordable healthcare, a generous pension program for retirees, beautiful beaches, national parks and preserves, restaurants and nightlife, and easy access with direct flights from dozens of international cities.

This year's hurricane headlines and Panama's generous incentives have propelled even more retirees and investors to consider relocating to Panama, a prime destination for those in search of an evacuation-free retirement and safe investments.
