Young Women are Choosing Careers Over Love - But Many May Live to Regret this Decision

Young Women are Choosing Careers Over Love, according to a study published recently in the scientific journal "Gender Issues." However, International Career Coach Krissy Jackson says unless these women change the way they approach their work, they may never become leaders in their chosen fields.

Walchwil, Switzerland (Bluehost/PRWEB ) June 3, 2008 -- Krissy Jackson, an International Coach Federation (ICF) certified Career Coach, helps women define strategic career and personal development plans. She has just launched her new website, The IT Girls Coach for women in IT and communications professions. Jackson offers tips, articles, coaching programs, online networking communities and one-to-one telephone coaching for those wishing to fast track their career development. She hopes to help women overcome their lack of career success.

When explaining the reasons women generally aren't occupying the top executive suites of corporations, Jackson cites a survey conducted by by ISR (International Survey Research), a Chicago-based employee-search and consulting firm. According to a study of 2,900 employees in five industries, "women tend not to embrace the art of self-promotion. Conversely, men do quite well at pumping themselves up as assets to a corporation."

She notes that "women tend to concentrate on working relationships, communication, customer service and supporting the company, while putting their career development on the back burner." Men in similar positions tend to think more strategically and place a premium on what's at stake for them personally. They are more likely to rate career development, compensation and a balanced workload as the things that will keep them committed to an organization."

Working with women in their late 20's to mid 30's, "Jackson says that she does not advocate her clients become more like men in order to climb the career ladder." Rather, young women should take responsibility and plan their lives and careers more strategically, work on their self confidence and participate in additional career advancement training programs in their chosen field. And she is right there to hold her clients accountable to achieving their goals,

Having identified her client's biggest problems, and being aware that not everyone can afford one-to-one coaching, Jackson has spent the last 6 months developing a set of comprehensive coaching programs to fulfill client needs. "New coaching programs include Career Planning, Setting Boundaries in the Workplace, Networking, Pre and Post Promotional Strategies, and Job Exit Strategies." She suggests that as a first step, women sign up for her career tips on the new website.

Krissy Jackson is also available for speaking and workshop engagements at conferences, with an extensive range of career related topics. Information about this can be found in the media area of The IT Girls Coach website.
