2008 US Beach Boomerang Championship Features Top US Stars
All the top boomerang competitors in the country will be descending upon Hermosa Beach, CA for the 2008 US Beach Boomerang Championships on March 21-23. Current US Champion Dan Bower will take his 6 tournament unbeaten streak to the event as will 2 time US Champ Matt Golenor and 3 time World GLORP Champ Steve Kavanaugh. All in preparation for this year's World Boomerang Championships 2008, the 2008 Boomerang World Championships . Hermosa Beach, CA (PRWEB) March 14, 2008 -- Boomerangs.com and the USBA.ORG announced today that the National Beach Boomerang Championships will be held on March 21-23 in Hermosa Beach, CA. The event starts off Friday evening with a bit of boomerang pyrotechnics in a display of Night Boomerang throws set against the California sunset. Night boomerangs use either LCD, glowstick, or other illumination techniques mounted within the construction of a real working boomerang. The boomerangs are thrown together, creating a light show effect across the sky. With a series of 10-20 simultaneous throwers, the display can be spectacular.

Saturday, March 22nd starts the competition phase where a series of head to head boomerang events are organized. Each thrower is matched with a second thrower in a double elimination format. 5 events are scheduled: Accuracy, MTA (Maximum Time Aloft), Aussie Round, Fast Catch and Trick Catch. Each event is scheduled to last about one hour and a new National Beach Boomerang Champion will be selected in each event, with an overall winner as well. The US Beach Boomerang Tournament is the only tournament of it's kind in the world, but it is similar to other USBA sponsored events and is part of the preparation for the US Boomerang Team for this years World Championships Event.
Greg Snouffer, coach of the US Team, will be on hand for interviews as well as most of the top throwers on the US team. Former US Champion and World Record holder, Eric Darnell, has organized a "Boomerang School" for local people interested in learning the sport during the tournament. Training sessions will be given between events for kids and adults of all ages above 8. Recently featured in an article in Popular Mechanics Magazine, Mr Darnell is one of the leading experts in the world on boomerang technology.
The United States Boomerang Association is a non-profit organization promoting the art, sport and science of boomerangs in the United States since 1980. The USBA acts as the sanctioning body for boomerang competitions all over the United States, and selects and supports the United States Boomerang team in team competition at world championships held every two years. American teams have won multiple world championships over the past two decades. Of note, the United States is hosting the Boomerang World Championships 2008 in Seattle, Washington this August 17 - 27, 2008. The finest throwers in the world will gather to compete for the coveted World Team and Individual Championship titles. The USBA also publishes the quarterly newsletter Many Happy Returns.
