'Bill Payer's Bible: How to Survive the Recession' an e-book Written by Attorney Edmund Dechant, was Released February 25, 2008

"I'm starving, but I don't want to go to jail!" a 79-year-old widow struggling to stay alive on social security cried out during an interview with Attorney Dechant. The widow contacted Attorney Edmund Dechant seeking bankruptcy protection when a bill collector gave her less than a week to make a payment or go to jail. "Bankruptcy is unnecessary," counseled Dechant, explaining to her that she was "judgment proof." This plea for help and others like it over the last 40 years led Attorney Dechant to write "Bill Payer's Bible: How to Survive the Recession." The publication can be purchased at the web site: www.billpayersbible.com.

Santa Rosa, CA (PRWEB) February 26, 2008 -- Edmund Dechant published "Bill Payer's Bible: How to Survive the Recession." The publication can be purchased at the web site: www.billpayersbible.com.

An attorney of 40 years, Dechant was fed up with illegal collection practices and unjustified public fear. The e-book, found at www.billpayersbible.com, highlights strategies for bill payers struggling to make ends meet. The Bible, written in a populist vein, explains such terms as "judgment proof", "cancellation of debt income", blocks, file segregation, short sales, budgeting and exemptions. Bill payers are given talking points to defend against aggressive bill collection practices. Common bankruptcy questions are addressed along with wide ranging advice for everyone struggling to make ends meet.

Mr. Dechant began his career as an attorney for the Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO) in east Oakland and also in east Los Angeles. He met clients then with problems that are common today. "I find a far ranging mix of people in financial trouble: wage earners, professionals, the injured, and the unemployed. Debt that they can not handle has engulfed them. Some are clinically depressed. Others have spoken of suicide. Widows on Social Security are fearful of being jailed as a result of their failure to pay their credit card debt. On low wages, single parent families can't find affordable medical care, buy adequate food or clothing for their children. All are easy prey for the credit card companies. Credit is easy to obtain, impossible to shed. When anyone struggling to make ends meet gets stretched out, his credit is cut and his interest rate soars above 30 percent in addition to late and over-limit fees. Payday and car title loans are offered at 300%."

To replace the help and advice formerly available from governmental agencies, Attorney Dechant offers the Bill Payer's Bible to list and discuss the laws which will help this beleaguered group of individuals and to suggest advantageous ways to use these protections.
