Valencia Festivals:

Fallas de Valencia - 15th - 19th March

January is the beginning of the most international and famous festival of Valencia, Spain. Fireworks are already lighting the night and "mascletas" (firecrackers) are inedudible date for hundred people until the festival conclusion from March 15 to March 19.

In Fallas, the city is visited, year after year, by tourists that come from all over the World. Last 2007 the amount of tourist reached over one million, and 2006 reached two million of tourists.

Fallas is a spectacle for every Valenciano and visitor alike, from the daily "mascleta", a controlled and progressive explosion of millions of crackers taking place daily from 1st March, in the City Hall Square or the fireworks, which reach their peak of beauty in the Nit del Foc, Valenciano for, Night of Fire.

A total of seven hundred Fallas, enormous works of art designed in cardboard and wood which compete in majesty, wit and beauty, satirizing political, cultural or social events, are erected in many of the streets on March 15th , and so will remain until the moment of being turned into ashes in the Nit del Foc.

It's recommended to book hostels in Valencia, Spain before arriving because of the amount of people that come in Fallas Festival.

FIB - International Benicassim Festival - 19th - 22nd July

Probably Spain's largest indy-pop festival, every year it attracts a massive international audience and line-up, and its easy to see why. A four day festival with an extra fifth day party. Aside from the music, the FIB Art, FIB Dance, and FIB Fashion are also worth checking out.

La Tomatina - 29 August

This week long festival called La Tomatina includes music and dancing, specialty foods, plenty of drink, and of course the star attraction...the tomatoes.
A glorious food fight involving override tomatoes, and approximately 25.000 people takes place every year in the town of Bunyol, near Valencia. An estimated 140 tones of tomatoes are brought to the town and ammunition its provided for all. You're going to get messy, so wearing old clothes and goggles is recommended. The action begins when a rocket is fired, and during about one hour the town and all participants are painted red and dripping with tomatoes.

The city of Valencia is known for its active and attractive night atmosphere, with a great range of possibilities which makes visitors feel at ease out in the streets. The mild characteristic weather invites everybody to stay out in the terraces and open air bars, many of them open all year. Night is plenty of festivals for all kind of people:
Travelers, students, Erasmus students in Valencia, etc..

Valencia Beaches
Valencia is truly blessed with beaches. Fine sand, blue water, Mediterranean breeze and ever-present Sun. The beaches within Valencia are as good as a city beach can possibly get, suprising all travelers. And just a few minutes by bus out of the city are real postcard beaches of top quality.
