The Country's Largest Hot Tub Retailer Launches Program to Help Chronically Ill Kids; ThermoSpas Will Donate 12 New Therapeutic Hot Tubs in 2008

ThermoSpas, Inc. of Wallingford, CT--a spa manufacturer and the country's largest hot tub retailer--announced today that it is expanding its Seasons of Giving hot tub donation program in 2008. Instead of donating four ThermoSpas hot tubs to children who will benefit from warm water therapy, the company will give 12 ThermoSpas hot tubs--one a month--to kids in need.

(PRWEB) August 27, 2007 -- ThermoSpas, Inc. of Wallingford, CT--a spa manufacturer and the country's largest hot tub retailer--announced today that it is expanding its Seasons of Giving hot tub donation program in 2008. Instead of donating four ThermoSpas hot tubs to children who will benefit from warm water therapy, the company will give 12 ThermoSpas hot tubs--one a month--to kids in need.

ThermoSpas launched its hot tub donation program, Seasons of Giving, in 2002. To date, 16 recipients--with illnesses ranging from Cerebral Palsy and Muscular Dystrophy to Fibromyalgia, MPS and Pereventricular Heterotopia--have benefited from donated ThermoSpas. Each of these children's parents reports that daily soaking in the hot tub has significantly improved their child's quality of life thanks to warm water therapy.

"Our motto has always been 'We Turn Water Into Therapy' and our Seasons of Giving hot tub donation program really makes this saying a reality," states Andrew Tournas, President of ThermoSpas. "When I hear about a child who could never move on his own, but now can walk because he received a ThermoSpa, I only wish we could help more kids. I am thrilled that we are able to triple our amount of donations in 2008."

Each of the 2008 Seasons of Giving recipients will receive a ThermoSpas Triton Elite (retail value $11,995) which has 46 jets for therapeutic massage and many ergonomic safety features recognized by the Arthritis Foundation with the "Ease of Use" Commendation. Not only will the ThermoSpas Triton Elite provide these children with a chance to move and play more freely on their own, but it will also offer proven therapy:

  • Muscle relaxation, which can reduce muscle spasms
  • Decreased gravity, which increases breath control
  • Improved trunk control, balance and coordination
  • Increased mobility and range of motion
  • Increased strength and endurance
  • Improved length and quality of sleep

According to one parent recipient, Tom Quigg, whose son Sean has Muscular Dystrophy and received a ThermoSpa in 2003, the benefits of the donation were more than physical: "The hot tub has helped Sean in every way, shape and form. The warm water makes it easier for him to do his stretches and relieves the pain in his joints. Most of all, the ThermoSpa provides him with the freedom to move, swim and play. The freedom is the greatest gift to a child in a wheelchair."

For more information about the program and to apply, please visit Seasons of Giving. The application deadline is February 29, 2008.
